John was a bigger than life (literally) kind of guy. We stayed in touch as my shop maintained and modified his hot rod car to his specifications. After John sold his family house in West Vancouver, he moved to an apartment overlooking the quay at New Westminster. We stayed in touch and my wife and I even picked up his best friend Barry (suffering from cancer issues) from Coquitlam and took him to visit John for the afternoon. It was fun times filled with libations and off colour humour despite all of the issues. Unfortunately I received a phone call from New Westminster Hospital late one evening while at a tire convention in Edmonton telling of the inevitable.

John will fondly remain in my memories. He was a really great guy.

RIP John

Cheers, Bill Ozzard
