GLENYS DEERING (ROBB) obituary ...
"DEERING-ROBB _ Glenys Elsa, born February 29, 1948, died in the company of
her family on April 10, 2000 after a determined battle with cancer. She is
lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of 25 years Lynn Robb;
her mother Helen Deering; brother Ken Deering; sisters Rosalyn Manthorpe and
Kathleen Wallace-Deering, their families, many friends and relatives from
all walks of life and her special four-legged friend Farley. Born in
Nanaimo, Glenys spent most of her life on the North Shore. After graduating
from UBC, Glenys traveled Africa (Cairo to Capetown) and then to Montreal
where she met her husband. Glenys and Lynn lived in Montreal and Toronto
until 1983 when they decided to move to B.C. A tireless and feisty advocate
for her community, Glenys was a well-respected member of her North Vancouver
neighbourhood. Prior to her election as a District of North Vancouver
Councillor from 1996 to 1999, Glenys served as president of the Edgemont
Community Association where she was involved in establishing the area's
first Community Policing Centre; chair of the Waterfront Task Force (Phase
I); and chair of the North Vancouver District's Advisory Planning
Commission. Glenys' life will be honoured at a memorial service on Saturday,
April 15 at 3:30 p.m. at Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemont Boulevard in
North Vancouver. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to
your favourite charity in Glenys' name."

Thank you for posting this Merilee. I remember Glenys as a soft-spoken, kind and intelligent classmate, very easy to be with. My condolences to her family and friends, another one taken far too soon.
