I have the feeling that this obits may not be the Richard Cook in the WVSS class of 1966.  Sometime in the 1970's or so I was stopped by a VPD motorcycle cop for driving though an intersection before the pedestrian was more then half way across the marked crosswalk.  Lo and behold, it was Richard that pulled me over.  He gave me a lecture but no ticket.  Therefore I find the reference in the obits referring to that Richard being a firefighter rather confusing.  I could be wrong.  Anyone else with more  on this?

I am sure iit is the same Richard, Formerly married to Sue, and he was a policeman, but must have changed careers.   So many  children sadly losing their father.

Yes, Richard was with the VPD until 1977.  We owned a Bino's franchise for a few years. Later he ran a trucking business.  We were out of contact for about 10 years until my daughter tracked him down. He was a dispatcher for the Surrey FD at that time. He took a 911 call for a traffic accident with several fatalities and began complaining of chest pain right after.  He died a few days later and was buried with full honours. Firefighters and police from all over B.C.and Wa were in attendance.
