PUGLIESE, Fran
We are very sad to announce the profound loss of Fran Pugliese (née Anderson) on August 9, 2014, after a valiant battle with malignant mesothelioma this summer. A much-loved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, Fran was born in Nairobi, Kenya on April 1, 1948 and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1950. She was educated in British Columbia, India and France, and attended Simon Fraser University and Stirling University in Scotland, where she completed her degree in education. Her family proudly watched Fran obtain her M.Ed in 2003. She taught primary and secondary school students in the Burnaby School District for more than 30 years, where she was an exceptional teacher and mentor until her retirement in 2008. Fran leaves behind her beloved husband and soulmate Ralph Pugliese, cherished daughter Georgia Morley (Tim MacArthur), and adored grandson Kylan MacArthur. Her passing is mourned by sister Caroline Sutherland; brothers Robert Anderson (Kathy Mezei) and Eric Anderson; nieces Jennifer Van der Mye, Erica Osburn and Robin Anderson; and nephew Luc Anderson; and their families. Fran was predeceased by her loving parents, Dr. Lewis S. Anderson (1971) and Mary Anderson (2002). Sharing in the loss are family in New York, and cousins in the U.S., Australia, Kenya and the U.K. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many people around the world. Fran enjoyed life to the full, and left wonderful memories of travels with Ralph in the U.S., Portugal, Spain, Greece, Kenya, Croatia, Mexico, Australia, Italy, France, and many happy months spent in New York City. She loved entertaining family and friends, cruising, sailing and skiing, gardening, decorating and music. Gifted with a wonderful voice; she latterly sang as a member of the Marcus Mosley Chorale. There will be a Memorial to honour Fran's life on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at St. Francis in the Wood Anglican Church, 4773 South Piccadilly Road, West Vancouver at 4:30 p.m. Please, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran's memory to Family Services of the North Shore Christmas Bureau.

Alice Kyle (Friend)

I was good friends with Fran in High School and was thrilled to meet up with her at the 40th reunion.

I was always so touched by the Light of her beauty, inwardly and outwardly. We had some deep conversations about God, life and the meaning of the universe that I could not have with many others. She will always live in my heart.heart

Thank you, dear Fran, for touching into my life, fly well with your wings of Love now.  Love, Alice xx
